The
Game Doctor
Post Game Analysis: Moose vs. Jokerit, Monday July 14th.
Recap
For the third game in a row, we played the hockey that has brought us
two straight titles. We added the most incredible intensity i've ever
felt this team have. The result was a sound defeat of the team that feels
they can walk through the playoffs, the team that felt they needed to
make a statement to the Moose last night.
They made a statement
alright.
We know what it takes
to win. We also know there's a real fine line between the performances
we've been putting in recently and the ones we put in during the first
half of the season.
That fine line is
commitment to team defense and mistake free hockey.
Grind
it out
Jokerit had us on the ropes for the first 7 minutes. We responded with
grind-it-out play to keep the puck in the zone and steal a goal. That
turned the tide. Everyone stepped up by putting in that extra effort to
get to a loose puck, get it out of the zone, clear it on a penalty kill,
hold a point, stop a 3-on-2, force a turnover on a forecheck, make an
unbelievable save. I can go on and on, but you could see everyone bringing
it up one more notch. I know it's not possible to get into that zone every
week and that's fine, not every game warrants it. But, take note of the
feeling, before, after and during the game and be ready to bring it whenever
we need it.
