Game Summaries - Winter 2003
Craig Deacon netted two powerplay goals in 50 seconds and Tom Granese scored with 47 ticks left to lead the Moose to a 7-6 come from behind win over Jokerit. The Moose started quick, as Jim Burns took a pass from new Knuckle Jason Diebold and batted it in for a 1-0 lead. It was Burns' third of the season. Diebold would follow it up with a goal of his own from Glenn Baker, giving the Moose a 2-0 lead. The lead would disappear, quickly as the speed and finesse of the Fins resulted in 3 quick goals, two coming from the league's third leading scorer, Samu Suni. The Moose would tie things up at 3 on a goal from Brad Schneider. It was his third of the season. Jokerit would score two more to take a 5-3 lead into the third. Diebold scored his second of the game to cut the lead to 5-4, but Jokerit once again stretched the lead to two as Suni completed the hat-trick. Down 6-4 and with a two-man advantage, Deacon showed why he pays the big bucks to play for the Knuckles. He scored twice set-up in his favorite spot, tying the game at six with under three minutes to play. Then, with just 47 seconds remaining on the clock, Granese blasted one through a screen and into the back of the net, giving the Moose a 7-6 win and a share of first place at 4-1-0.
